BACKGROUND: Sparkle was rescued at a puppy-mill/commercial breeder auction and is now being fostered in Minnesota. Sparkle does need a fenced yard. INFORMATION: Meet Sparkle! This sweet, spunky little girl has adjusted quite well in her foster home. She enjoys playing with the other dogs and has a new found love of squeaky toys. Sparkle needs to have a fenced yard as she has demonstrated numerous times she does NOT want to be leash trained. Sparkle is a little shy at first but warms up quickly. She is not one to do stairs so would prefer a one level home so she doesn't have to be carried. She has mastered a step or two though. Sparkle has a darling independent spirit but gets along fine with other small dogs and kitties, and would love to have a furry companion in her forever home. THIS IS A SPECIAL LITTLE GIRL! Is Sparky the one for you? HEALTH: Sparkle has been spayed, is micro-chipped, has been heart worm tested and is up to date on vaccinations. She has had a problem with bladder crystals so she needs to be on a special prescription diet food. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . If you think this dog may be a good match for you and your family, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which can be found at www.luvachinrescue.org . Having experience with puppy-mill type personality dogs would be helpful. Gunner is very handsome and enjoys the companionship of the other Chins here. Mindy Soo (MN) [more info]

Name: MINDY SOO DOB: 12/17/2007 Weight: approximately 12 pounds Adoption Donation: $200 Foster Location: Bertha, Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! We do allow out of state adoptions and will assist with transport whenever possible! BACKGROUND: Mindy came from a commercial breeder that did not give the dogs any socialization so therefore they have been some of the most afraid dogs we have rescued. Mindy is in a foster home in Minnesota with several other small dogs. INFORMATION: Mindy Soo is a darling little Japanese Chin who is trying to adapt to living the way all dogs deserve to live. She spent the first six years with very little socialization so everything is new to her. She is making progress but it is going to take a lot of time and patience while she learns she can trust. Mindy does like quiet affection but still runs when you walk by her as if she is afraid you might step on her. Her forever home needs to be a very patient one, I think she would do best in a quiet one or two person home. I do not think she would do well with children as she will probably always be a little nervous. She likes to go outside in a fenced yard and also is good about using potty pads in the house. Mindy Soo would like to share her forever home with one or two small dogs for canine companionship, she loves playing and sleeping with her foster pals. A potential adopter should have had some experience with puppy-mill type personalities before. A fenced yard or penned area is a must for Mindy Soo's forever home. HEALTH:Mindy Soo is in good health. She has been spayed, micro-chipped, HW tested, is up to date on all of her shots. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . Maize (MN) [more info]

Name: MAIZE DOB: 9/22/2007 Weight: approximately 10 pounds Adoption Donation: $150 Foster Location: Redwood Falls, Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! BACKGROUND: Maize came from a commercial dog breeder so is finally discovering the life she should have had from the start. She is being fostered in SW Minnesota. INFORMATION:Maize is a sweet little girl but needs a very special home. She will not go down any steps, and doesn't want to go outside unless carried out to a fenced yard. She would be the perfect little dog for someone who lives in an apartment and will just use potty pads rather than going outside. Maize is affectionate but a little shy. She needs a quiet home where there is someone around to keep her company. She plays sometimes with the other Chins in her foster home but is fairly protective of her dog bed so I think she would do well as an "only" or with a cat or very mellow little dog. Maize is a cute little girl looking for that very special forever home, could it be yours? HEALTH: Maize has been spayed and is up-to-date on all of her shots. She is micro-chipped and has been heart worm tested. Maize does have a grade 3 heart murmur (which is quite common in Chin) but does not need any medication. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . If you think this dog may be a good match for you and your family, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which can be found at www.luvachinrescue.org . ZORRO (MN) [more info]

Name: ZORRO DOB: 8/14/07 Weight: approximately 14 pounds Adoption Donation: $150 Foster Location: SW Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! We do allow out of state adoptions and will assist with transport whenever possible! BACKGROUND: Zorro came from a commercial breeder and was rescued by Luv A Chin and given a chance to be a normal house dog. INFORMATION: Zorro is a good natured boy that gets along well with all of his Chin friends. He has just been in his first home for a couple of months but he fit right in and enjoys both the house and his fenced in yard. Zorro has an old scar on one eye that gives kind of a blueish cast but it does not bother him at all. He is really a teddy bear and so deserving of a forever home. I think he would feel most comfortable with one or two other dogs to be buds with. UPDATE-5/12/15 Zorro definitely needs to have other furry companions. He loves to kiss and lick the other dogs faces and gets along very well with all. He likes people but I think he prefers other dogs. He is always cuddled up on a dog bed with someone! Zorro may be able to learn to walk on a leash but is not trained at this time so would need either a fenced yard or at the least, an exercise pen to play in until he has been trained. HEALTH: Zorro has been neutered, micro-chipped, heart worm tested and is up to date on all of his shots. He does have a grade 3 heart murmur but is not showing any symptoms of heart problems and does not require any medication. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . If you think this dog may be a good match for you and your family, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which can be found at www.luvachinrescue.org . AMBER (MN) [more info]

Name: AMBER DOB:12/14/06 Weight: approximately 13 pounds Adoption Donation: $150 Foster Location: Southern Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! We do allow out of state adoptions and will assist with transport whenever possible! BACKGROUND: Amber is a retired breeding female from a commercial kennel. Those days came to an end when we rescued Amber so she can live the rest of her life as a pampered pet. INFORMATION: Amber is a 7 year old sweetheart....don't let her white face fool you, she's got a lot of energy and plays like a pup! Amber is on the shy side, but she is eager to please. She does use potty pads, and she is shy of using stairs to go in and out, but is working on that fear. She loves to be outside, but would need to be picked up and carried out if there are steps involved. Amber will get a little nervous about being picked up, but if you kneel down and let her "work out" that nervous energy, she will slide up into your arms for lifting. Amber loves treats and is learning to take them from your hand. She thinks peanut butter is the bomb, and you will make a fast friend if you share it with her. She is learning to wear a harness but hasn't worked on walks yet. A fenced yard is a must for her. She does well with other small dogs, she is curious about cats, but doesn't chase. She has made a cat friend at her foster home and will greet him when he comes for a visit. Amber would do well in a calm, quiet environment . She would benefit from the company from another small dog or two. She does get nervous with new situations but she does adapt. Her adopter needs to have lots of love and patience and experience with dogs that have come from a puppy-mill/commercial kennel would be very helpful. HEALTH:Amber has been spayed, has been micro-chipped, heart worm tested, and is up to date on her shots. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . If you think this dog may be a good match for you and your family, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which can be found at www.luvachinrescue.org . STAR (MN) [more info]

Name: STAR DOB: 8/16/06 Weight: approximately 13 pounds Adoption Donation: $150 Foster Location: Redwood Falls, MN As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! We do allow out of state adoptions and will assist with transport whenever possible! BACKGROUND: Star came from a puppy-mill and was rescued by Luv a Chin when she was put up for auction INFORMATION: Star is the new girl at her foster home and was very shy at the start. She has relaxed now that she has been here a month but will still shy away when guests come over. I think she would do best in a quiet home, no small kids or any hustle and bustle. Star loves going out in the fenced yard and is getting started on also using potty pads in the house. She gets along well with her Chin friends and is a lovely quiet girl. Star will need a fenced yard or penned area. UPDATE-5/12/15 Star is still awfully shy, I think her adopter should have had some experience with puppy-mill/commercial kennel type dogs who have never been socialized. I think she would do best with just one or two adults that do not have children visiting and can give her the gift of unconditional love and patience. Star will need a fenced yard as she kind of shuts down when trying to use a leash. Star also would do best with one or two other small dogs to give her more confidence. She is a work in progress and still has a long way to go. HEALTH: Star has been spayed, micro-chipped, is UTD on all her shots and has been heart-worm tested. Star does have a grade 3 heart murmur but does not require any medication and seems to be in very good health. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . If you think this dog may be a good match for you and your family, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which can be found at www.luvachinrescue.org . Taka Mori (MN) [more info]

Name: TAKA MORI DOB: 1-21-2007 Weight: approximately 16 pounds Adoption Donation: $150 Foster Location: Bertha, Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! We do allow out of state adoptions and will assist with transport whenever possible! BACKGROUND: Taki Mori was used as a stud dog by a commercial breeder before being rescued by Luv A Chin. INFORMATION: Hi! My name is Taka Mori and I just found out about this thing called life as a house pet. My foster mom says I'm smart, handsome(she even likes my freckles) and friendly. Sometimes she really embarrasses me the way she brags about me. I spent my first 7 years sitting in a cage being used to make puppies for my owner to sell to pet stores. Now I have a soft bed, a house to live in with heat and ac, good food, sometimes even a treat or two. I get as excited as a puppy sometimes, especially if something to eat is involved. I'm learning to use potty pads and go outside to take care of my business. I don't know how to walk on a leash, my foster mom says I need to learn....I don't know what that is but if it involved food I'm all in! I get along pretty well with the other dogs in my house but sometimes get a little grumpy if they crowd me too much. We have a couple of things called cats here too. I'm curious about them but I still haven't decided if I like them or not. I would do well as an only dog or with maybe one or two small canine friends. I would really love a nice fenced yard so I could run and play and not have to learn about that leash stuff, but I suppose I could learn if there were enough treats. HEALTH: Taka Mori has been neutered, he has been heartworm tested, micro-chipped and is up to date on all of his shots. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . If you think this dog may be a good match for you and your family, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which can be found at www.luvachinrescue.org . Once we receive your completed application, we will then contact the references provided and set up a home visit with a rescue volunteer in your area. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INTEREST IN ADOPTING FROM LUV-A-CHIN RESCUE!

MIA (MN) [more info]

Name: Mia DOB: 7/4/2008 Weight: approximately 13 pounds Adoption Donation: $200 Foster Location: Redwood Falls, Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! BACKGROUND: Mia was rescued along with other Japanese Chins from a breeder closeout. INFORMATION: Mia is such a striking girl, and has what we call a "clown face". She is very affectionate with her person once she gets to know she is safe. She has only been in foster care a couple of weeks and is doing well, she goes outside and uses potty pads. Mia is not leash trained so she will need a fenced yard (at least 3 feet tall) or an exercise pen or run outdoors so she has a place to run and be free. She does well with other dogs but is slightly dominant so the best match would be a mellow canine companion. Mia is somewhat nervous with new situations and fast movements so would do best in an adult home or a quiet home with respectful children 12 or older. Remember that Mia has never lived in a house and has not had any socialization until now so it is a slow process that takes love and patience but gives back 10 fold! HEALTH: Mia has recently been spayed, is micro-chipped, up to date on her shots and HW test.

LAYLA (MN) [more info]

Name: Layla DOB: 1-1-2014 Weight: approximately 15 pounds Adoption Donation: $375 Foster Location: Le Center, Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! We do allow out of state adoptions, however arranging transport is the responsibility of the adopter. BACKGROUND: Layla was rescued along with several other chins at a Midwest dog auction. She came from a commercial breeding kennel. INFORMATION: Layla is a friendly, playful girl with lots of puppy energy. She has adjusted to living in a home very quickly and has learned all about cuddling and treats. She can be a little timid when meeting new people and in new situations, but once she gets to know you, she loves attention and gives lots of kisses. Layla loves chews, stuffed toys, and balls and hops like a bunny when she plays with them. She also loves wrestling with the other Chins in her foster home and chasing through the yard. We would really like her to have a fenced yard. Layla loves spending time outdoors and learned to go up and down stairs in a flash. She has started to learn how to walk with a harness and leash and will need a patient home to help build her confidence. She is also learning house manners and will need continued patient training to help her adjust to a new home. Layla is a beautiful young Chin looking for a loving forever home to make her the princess she deserves to be. Please note she needs a home with no children under the age of 10. HEALTH: Layla has been spayed, is micro-chipped, HW tested and current on all shots.

TRISH (MN) [more info]

Name: Trish DOB: 1-4-2009 Weight: approximately 15 pounds Adoption Donation: $225 Foster Location: Redwood Falls, Minnesota As an all volunteer rescue organization, please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can! We do allow out of state adoptions, however arranging transport is the responsibility of the adopter. BACKGROUND: Trish was rescued at a Midwest dog auction along with several others. She was part of a commercial breeding kennel. INFORMATION: Trish is a stunning girl with unusal markings and a beautiful, soft, fluffy coat. She is brand new to living in a home so still adjusting and a little shy. She is slow to warm up to new people but I am sure with time and confidence she will come around. She adores her person though, right now that is her foster mommy, and she also loves treats and her food. Trish would do best in a home with a fenced yard as she is not leash trained and will need time to work on that. She has been quite good using potty pads in the house. Trish came into rescue with Mia, Layla and Sasha and some others so she is fine with other small dogs, and I think she would benefit from sharing her forever home with another small dog. Because Trish is somewhat nervous and new to home living she needs to have a home without children under 10. Trish is a beautiful Japanese Chin who is so deserving of being the center of someone's universe! HEALTH: Trish has been spayed, micro-chipped, and HW tested. She is up to date on all of her shots. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne at colvin@means.net . If you think this dog may be a good match for you and your family, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which can be found at www.luvachinrescue.org .
