Ariel [more info]

http://youtu.be/5gkw3YTLg3U http://youtu.be/t2KBQxLt5cY http://youtu.be/QF-kGLeUKZo ***NEEDS FOSTER OR ADOPTER*** Meet Ariel. This precious 4 year old brindle pit mix has a world of love to give! Ariel absolutely LOVES humans. With a heart of gold, Ariel will even let you play with her and her food dish while she is eating! What a gem! And who could ever resist those soulful eyes, perky smile, and expressive ears. She looks forward to the day she can play, snuggle, and spoil her human! At this time, Ariel lives in a boarding facility. This is no life for any dog. Unfortunately, and by no fault of her own, the right family has yet to come along for her. Before she was dumped in a high kill shelter, the only life she knew was as a breeding machine and mommy. Once her ‘family’ no longer had any use for her, they dumped her in a rural TN shelter. Not only was she abandoned and on death row, but she was stuck in a location where it is ILLEGAL to adopt our a dog with any pit in them. Inevitably, Ariel was scheduled for death. Needless to say, Ariel did not die that day. She began a new life as a Twenty Paws dog. At a convenient 50 lbs, this doll yearns to finally know what its like to be someone's baby. She cared for so many in the past, and they were all stolen from her. No one cared for her at all. When we rescued her, Ariel was riddled with parasites, heartworm positive, severely emaciated, and infected with distemper. Boldly redefining the word survivor, Ariel not only survived, but she is in perfect health! Her illnesses never deterred this little girl’s spirit. She lavished at her newly found freedom and second chance. Eternally grateful to the vet staff for their determination to improve her health, Ariel showers them with kisses and wiggles. Truly, now it is her turn to experience love and affection. Every night, Ariel dreams that someone will be her hero. Every night, she dreams that she can become part of a family. Could it be your family? Ariel deserves more than a life behind bars and a cold metal bed. Please consider fostering or adopting this survivor. Lucille just wants to be loved and have a happy life. She will gleefully roll over for belly rubs. In return, she promises endless kisses, hugs, love, and wiggles. The shelter volunteers contact us desperate to help this girl the morning she was scheduled to be put to sleep. Lucille came into the shelter with 7 puppies. They were all pulled by another rescue, poor Lucille was left behind. No one knew that those were her babies since the shelter placed them in separate cages. When we pulled her from the shelter, we saw that she is very underweight. However, she is now completely healthy. Moses [more info]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qldf4EwEE_I Moses is a breath taking boy, just about 2 years old, and about 60 lbs. He has the cutest google markings around his eyes! Between his astonishing good looks and magnetic personality, Moses is a hit anywhere he goes. He is absolutely wonderful with people and children. He does get along with dogs; however, a meet and greet would be required. Moses also loves car rides, belly rubs, and snuggling. He often gets attacked by his ninja feline foster sister- poor boy doesn't know what hit him! We rescued Moses out of deplorable conditions where he was left locked in a room without food or water for over a week. You see the house was a host to vast array of illegal activity. When the people were arrested, he was left behind chained in the room. When the landlord came to look at the property, he need to get him out. After a string of calls, he got our number and told us we had to get him immediately or he will end up in the shelter. We high tailed it over to him and got him. Moses greeted us with the HAPPIEST of spirits. If you could not see his deplorable physical condition, you would never have known he was starving and insurmountably thirsty for a week (during our summer heat wave nonetheless). He was just so grateful to be alive, outside, and with people who care. After witnessing where he came from, we appropriately named him Moses- who has a heart of gold. Sadly, his horrific life left him with more than just hunger, thirst, and an emaciated frame. Moses was covered in old scars. We do not know where this is from. However, it is clear that he was a victim of circumstance more than once. Our hearts bleed for Moses; and, after seeing him, we know he will simultaneously break and capture your heart too. If interested please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. So if you do not hear back from us please follow up! Sirius [more info]

Sirus is a loving German shepherd mix boy. With the body and look of a German shepherd and the cutest short legs, Sirius is a uniquely perfect sized pup! He loves the company of dogs and cats! He’s developed a solid profession around being a love bug, especially with his human! Now, this boy is more of a ladies’ man. However, with the proper time and patience, he can develop an equal love for males too. Sirius is a unique boy, who loves to be groomed. That’s right! Sirius absolutely adores being brushed! Literally, this boy smiles when you brush him! Eager to please, Sirius is happy to learn. This awesome boy is crate and potty trained and walks well on the leash. Although, he does prefer playing in the yard or grassy area over being near the street. Basking in the glory of affection, Sirius loves to be the center of attention. He would benefit from some more basic socialization training as he does take some time to warm up to strangers entering his home. However, when he travels or meets new people, he is happy to generously give kisses! We pulled Sirus baby's mother, Star, form a shelter right before she was supposed to be put to sleep. We, including the vet, thought she had puppies recently and they were stripped from her too early. Little did we know that she was PREGNANT! Her foster mom woke up on the morning of July 7, 2013 and found Star in labor! If interested please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. So if you do not hear back from us please follow up! Sasha [more info]

Sasha is a beautiful 6-7 lbs 4 year old female cat that is in need of a new home. She is a domestic short hair tuxedo. Her mother, an elderly woman who loves her dearly and adopted her when she was 3 months old, developed a severe allergy to cats and can no longer keep her. Devastated, she reached out to our rescue for help. We are unsure about how she is with other dogs. However, we do know that she is PLAYFUL with other cats and children. Her family describes her as quiet, gentle, shy, and sometimes mischievous. However, what cat isn’t?! Sasha LOVES playing hide and seek. She likes to hide for a while and then pop up out of nowhere. Who knows, she might be part ninja! Loving and loyal, she will be your best friend. She would love to have a playmate or a human that can shower her with love and attention. Sasha is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. She is completely healthy! Albert [more info]

http://youtu.be/ZBRKjecbGTA Everyone that meets Albert falls in love! His bubbly personality and boundless love is magnetic. He is about 18 months old and gets along with all those he meets. Albert’s brindle coat and white mask (that made room for his brindle ears to poke through) are a common topic of discussion amongst the humans that meet him. This boy is Tigger personified- in a dog- bouncy, flouncy, fun, fun, and fun! This boy is completely oblivious to any negativity. He gets along with all dogs, cats, children, adults, extraterrestrials, anything, and anyone! He is best friends with his human foster siblings, 2 of which have special needs. Albert is so gentle and really does adjust himself to fit someone’s individual needs. This boy only concerns himself with two things, love and happiness. If another human or animal doesn’t like him, it’s not a problem. His policy is to win you over with his stellar personality- and model looks! The smile on his face is contagious and there is no vaccine. It seems like nothing can break his peppy demeanor. Albert loves to play or snuggle, whichever you prefer. He has absolutely no concerning behaviors. There literally is not a single mean bone in his body! Albert is a true miracle, and we are so grateful to have him in our rescue- and eternally indebt to our dear friends that helped us get him! Albert is, as many of you remember, the Craigslist ad a woman posted when she saw an abandoned dog in a park while walking her dog. She did not take the dog, but posted in hopes that he might find a home. Well, one of our dedicated volunteers went there. He was nowhere to be found. For days our team worked posting flyers and reaching out to people in the community. After a couple days, he was found! Our fears were confirmed; he was in the wrong hands. The night we found out where he was, we went there to get him. We rescued this uniquely handsome boy on a significant day. It was the funeral of one of our beloved volunteers, fosters, and pitbull advocates. Thus, we chose to name the dog after him. So meet Albert. Mr. Baby [more info]

http://youtu.be/LPKgIDCrS-8 Meet the biggest baby of them all. So much that we had to call him Mr. Baby! This boy came to our rescue when his former home did not want him anymore and threatened to take him to the shelter. Mr. Baby is a 4 year old 70-75 lb American Bully. A stud and gentleman for sure! Allie [more info]

Allie- 2-3 years old, 40ish lbs, beagle terrier mix, loves other people, would need a meet and greet with another dog. http://youtu.be/eCBzQOB3GF8 http://youtu.be/X1ID8US5OnE Miss Allie is a beagle/lab/terrier mix! She is about 2-3 years old, 42 pounds, up to date on shots, spayed, and microchipped. Allie has a gorgeous brindle coat mixed with white and black freckles. A sweet, gentle, energetic, and loving girl, Allie will blend in well into any home! She is a complete mush and gets along well with everyone, including children. Allie knows basic commands and is eager to learn more - very easy to train, especially when hot dogs are involved. Allie is trained to sleep in her crate, but just as happy to spend the night cuddled up on the couch. She never barks and will always greet with you with her happy tail wagging quicker than the speed of light! Allie is a silly girl with “puppy like” traits. She will steal a sock, or jump on your lap without warning. Durable chew toys are a must for this princess they keep her happy and occupied; she will be extra happy if her toys include a helping of peanut butter. This gal loves riding in the car and is a great hiking companion. As she doesn't make a peep and is great with stairs, she also makes a great apartment dog. She could benefit from a yard, private space, or quiet block to take her walks on, as trucks and buses tend to spook her. More than anything, Allie loves to be with humans especially in the comfort of her own home. At chance she can seize, Allie will lay and cuddle up beside you or on you (she's a small dog in a medium dog body;). She has a signature hug, and will wrap her adorable puppy paws around you whenever she is looking for love. When you move, we can promise that you will have four furry paws following you to your next destination. If interested in adopting Allie, please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. Missy [more info]

***ADOPTER OR FOSTER NEEDED ASAP*** About a year ago Missy was found running loose in the subzero New England temperatures, malnourished and underweight. After 2 weeks of searching for her former family, no one claimed her. She was left abandoned- just a lonely scared puppy. At 2 years old and 60 lbs, Missy, an STUNNING white American Bulldog, always was and continues to be sweet and loving to whoever came to care for her, full of kisses and a yodeling bark. Missy is very affectionate- providing endless kisses and snuggles in bed. She loves to lay on your lap too! Missy has a lot of energy and loves to run; she eats well and will even sit on the chair at the table with you like a human. She is a very family oriented dog and loves to be around people. Due to her past abandonment, Missy prefers to be around humans, attention, and love. When you are not home, Missy patiently waits for you in her crate. Oh, and Missy LOVES baths, walks, and to chew on her toys. She has a toy box full of toys to keep her occupied; but, plastic bottles are her toy of choice. As far as we know, Missy has never been around small children. She does do well around kids 10 years and older. Around cats, Missy is a terror, but hasn’t hurt them. She just does not realize know her own strength, as most of these mush balls tend to do. Missy should be the only dog in the home, as she prefers to be the only beloved canine in the home. Missy is a wonderful dog and will be a devoted guard dog protecting her owner. She is a very happy dog and yodels instead of barking when greeting you- truly a unique and special young girl. Bonnie [more info]

http://youtu.be/KB4-Fu1anRo http://youtu.be/X4SkslVJX5M http://youtu.be/7N5iBt3qzNc Bonnie is a sweet dog, calm, and full of affection. She does remarkably well with children and cats. She just ignores felines! Extremely playful with other dogs, Bonnie would do best with a happy and patient male dog. This girl is a doll. Clearly, she had a tough or sheltered past, though. She also has a scar between her shoulder blades resembling a burn scar. We do not know the truth behind it; and, Bonnie would prefer to forget it. However, she does adjust quickly. Bonnie would love to sit next to you on the couch. She will approach your lap, turn upside down, wiggle her belly, and give gentle kisses. What’s not to love? Bonnie needs her human and canine Clydes, perhaps a child to grow up with. She is a young girl with an old spirit. She does well in the car as well, just sits, looks out the window, and lets the world go by- probably thinking about something, we assume. At about 30 lbs and 2 years old, she is the perfect companion for any home size. *Back story* Bonnie was part of a BONDED pair. Her brother, Clyde was with her in the shelter. Then, a family came to the shelter and ADOPTED Clyde, leaving Bonnie behind. Her entire world shattered when they walked out of the shelter without her. Inevitably, Bonnie was on the euthanasia list; her time was up. After all softhearted Bonnie endured; it was time for her new beginning. The foster that stepped up for her backed out moments after her rescue. Athena [more info]

Baby Athena is a little brindle black masked peanut. She is about 4 months old, 20 lbs, dog and cat friendly, and a professional love. The calmest puppy of all time!!! She lives for cuddles, belly rubs, and naptime. We have yet to hear her bark! Athena came to us after someone purchased her and realized that in a month he will have to go to college and cannot take her…woops! So they surrendered her to us. We are guessing that she is a boxer/terrier mix. Whatever she is, those ears are to die for. Her gentle kisses feel like angel wings. The love she has to offer is vast, and she becomes attached quickly. If you leave, she patiently sits by the door waiting for you. Seriously, Athena is the easiest puppy of all time. She has yet to chew on anything other than her toys, and does not get into any mischief! This little peanut is quickly becoming a volunteer favorite. Don’t miss your opportunity to adopt Athena! Petey [more info]

Petey is the cutest little thing with a tough exterior. Throughout his life, this little man endured more hardship and pain than we can imagine. Rescued about almost a year ago from a horrific life, Petey now knows he can trust humans again. When he first entered our foster home, he came from a life of being thrown against a wall, kicked, whipped with a belt, hit, yelled at, and just terrified. We have no idea what kind of ‘humans’ would do such a thing. Petey is now between 7-10 years old. Due to his abuse, guessing his age is particularly difficult. Petey loves other dogs and cats; and, once he gets to know you, loves you too. He truly has come such a long way- a resilient boy. Before, he did not know how to play, laugh, or enjoy himself. Now, he loves to wrestle with his toys, have a conversation with you, and snuggle close. Petey is still uncomfortable being picked up by strangers, understandably so. Thus, he will need you to give him some times. Not to worry, though, if he wants your attention, he will gladly ask for it and let himself be known! Petey is house broken and pad trained. He also enjoys time in his crate. Some of his favorite things to do are perch, look out the window, and watch the world go by. Petey will need a special home to live out his life, one that is patient, loving, and gentle. He might be rambunctious and act tough, but he is really a gentle soul with more hurt in his heart that we can imagine. Consider adopting our Petey. It might be the best decision you ever make! If interested please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. So if you do not hear back from us please follow up! Tater Tot [more info]

Tater Tot, 5-7 years old, 45(ish) lbs, English bulldog mix What can we say about Tater Tot? A former resident of the NYACC euthanasia list, Tater Tot’s new life began the day it was supposed to end. She was sentenced to death because she caught a cold. Tater Tot is about 45lbs and estimated to be between 5 and 7 years old. With her adorable wrinkled face, petite compact size, and wiggle ways, we believe she is an English bulldog mix. Although we do not know all of Tater Tot’s history, we know her former life was not one you would wish upon any dog, or human. She shows signs of being over bred. When the former humans no longer had any use for her, she was discarded like a piece of rotten food. Despite all she’s endured, Tater Tot continues to be a complete love bug- lavishing at the opportunity to score a belly rub, adoring all humans that come her way, and engaging in romps with her canine foster sister. She is also notorious for her piglet grunts! Tater Tot was found as a stray in the streets of New York City and picked up by Animal control. Once pulled by TPR, we discovered that, in addition to her cold, she was also heartworm positive. This poor girl was simultaneously fighting two very tough battles, both inhibiting her ability to breathe. Thankfully, she overcame BOTH illnesses! Please share her story and this album to help her forever family find her. If interested in fostering or adopting, please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. Bluie [more info]

Bluie, 1 year old, great with ALL animals, loves people Teenie tiny Bluie. This pocket pittie is a bundle of joy to be around and holds a special place in our hearts. One year old, Bluie LOVES other dogs and cats. He gets along with smaller and larger animals, including guinea pigs! With a heart full of love, Bluie does not understand when others don’t care for. He will continue to try and win you (animal or human) over! Housebroken, crate trained, and eager to please, Bluie would make a wonderful addition into any home. He is a great side kick and would never betray your heart and trust. Truly, Bluie is a great best friend, co-pilot, and sidekick. This boy did not have the best start to life and came to us from a desperate situation. His former owner did the right thing. His home was not a safe and loving environment for him. Good thing he cared and loved our boy enough to give him up! There is not a single thing about this boy that’s not endearing! Due to his medium to high happiness level, we feel he would do best in a home with children over 10 years old. However, this can be determined on a case-by-case basis.
