Ariel [more info]

http://youtu.be/5gkw3YTLg3U http://youtu.be/t2KBQxLt5cY http://youtu.be/QF-kGLeUKZo ***NEEDS FOSTER OR ADOPTER*** Meet Ariel. This precious 4 year old brindle pit mix has a world of love to give! Ariel absolutely LOVES humans. With a heart of gold, Ariel will even let you play with her and her food dish while she is eating! What a gem! And who could ever resist those soulful eyes, perky smile, and expressive ears. She looks forward to the day she can play, snuggle, and spoil her human! At this time, Ariel lives in a boarding facility. This is no life for any dog. Unfortunately, and by no fault of her own, the right family has yet to come along for her. Before she was dumped in a high kill shelter, the only life she knew was as a breeding machine and mommy. Once her ‘family’ no longer had any use for her, they dumped her in a rural TN shelter. Not only was she abandoned and on death row, but she was stuck in a location where it is ILLEGAL to adopt our a dog with any pit in them. Inevitably, Ariel was scheduled for death. Needless to say, Ariel did not die that day. She began a new life as a Twenty Paws dog. At a convenient 50 lbs, this doll yearns to finally know what its like to be someone's baby. She cared for so many in the past, and they were all stolen from her. No one cared for her at all. When we rescued her, Ariel was riddled with parasites, heartworm positive, severely emaciated, and infected with distemper. Boldly redefining the word survivor, Ariel not only survived, but she is in perfect health! Her illnesses never deterred this little girl’s spirit. She lavished at her newly found freedom and second chance. Eternally grateful to the vet staff for their determination to improve her health, Ariel showers them with kisses and wiggles. Truly, now it is her turn to experience love and affection. Every night, Ariel dreams that someone will be her hero. Every night, she dreams that she can become part of a family. Could it be your family? Ariel deserves more than a life behind bars and a cold metal bed. Please consider fostering or adopting this survivor. Titan [more info]

***FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED ASAP*** Titan is a stunning sweet boy that came to us when he was only 12-weeks old. Too sick to go into a home, he was nursed back to health! Now, he is about 9 months old and just over 30lbs. He is healthy as can be too! Titan gets along with other dogs and loves the company of humans and his fellow canines. Extremely sweet, quiet, and fun loving, he would make a wonderful addition to any home! Titan loves to romp around in the yard, hike, walk, and LOVE. Since he is a sensitive boy and his feelings are easily hurt, he would do best with a female canine companion. VIDEO: http://youtu.be/2n_NYfj9cB8 Please consider adopting of fostering this angel today! If interested please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. So if you do not hear back from us please follow up! We respond to all emails!** You may also see this darling on our website at www.twentypawsrescue.com Below is more about how he came to us. Desperate for help, one of the vets we work with called us. Titan, a 12-week-old puppy, was found abandoned in an apartment. His former ‘family’ packed up and moved out. They seem to have left one very important and precious thing behind, this little boy! Tragically, this was no accident. They intentionally left Titan behind to die. The day after the landlord found him in the apartment, Titan was vomiting, lethargic, anorexic, and clearly ill. The landlord brought him to our vet to have him euthanized. In a fighting effort to give Titan a chance at life, the vet chose to call us before committing the ultimate irreversible act. There was no hesitation, we happily took this baby under our wing and asked the vet to do all they could to help this angel. Today Titan is a Twenty Paws dog and has us to fight for him. Diagnosed with Parvo, he lived in the vet’s office and received round the clock care and observation. Now he is in a temporary foster home with one of the vet’s staff members. However, this is very temporary. Now that Titan is 100% healthy, he is ready for a home and life again!

Lucille [more info]

Upon meeting her, Lucille is a girl that captivates your heart. She is about 46 lbs and 4 years old. This girl just LOVES people, cats, and other dogs. Lucille just wants to be loved and have a happy life. She will gleefully roll over for belly rubs. In return, she promises endless kisses, hugs, love, and wiggles. Is that too much for a darling girl with hypnotic honey eyes to want? Lucille will bring a smile to you daily. If you ever doubted dogs that look like her before, she will forever change your perception. Please consider adopting Lucille. We know you will both enrich one another’s lives. Before she was a Twenty Paws dog, Lucille was in a shelter with BSL and would not allow her to be adopted. Thus, only out of state rescue could save her. If not, then bully breeds are put to sleep to make room for the lamentable cycle to continue. The shelter volunteers contact us desperate to help this girl the morning she was scheduled to be put to sleep. Lucille came into the shelter with 7 puppies. They were all pulled by another rescue, poor Lucille was left behind. No one knew that those were her babies since the shelter placed them in separate cages. When we pulled her from the shelter, we saw that she is very underweight. However, she is now completely healthy. Tiger [more info]

Tiger is a 1 year old Rock Star boy. He came to us when his former owner abandoned him at our vet because he did not want to pay the vet bill. The vet held on to him and called us after the owner did not come back for over a week. We gladly took this unique pointy-eared boy. Tiger gets along with everyone and loves to play with dogs! He is a super fun laid back dog that will jump through hoops for you. Tiger is young and carries with him a puppy exuberance. He meshes well with any dog and can handle any personality that comes his way. Tiger loves to play with other dogs, so it is important that, if his future home has a dog already, that they are ready for an amazing playmate. He’s truly one of a kind. Tiger's foster mom describe him as a canine ninja. When he is interested in looking out the window, he will jump on the windowsill like a cat. However, this often stuns him and then he needs you to come to his rescue! He can be easily considered Tigger's counterpart- bouncy, flouncy, fun, fun, fun! We are unsure about his mix; however, we suspect that he does have Vulcan in him somewhere. That’s the only reasonable explanation for those ears! In reality we are guessing Grey Hound and Boxer? Tiger is your perfect option. He will endlessly love you. Who wouldn’t want that? If interested please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. So if you do not hear back from us please follow up! The resident dogs kept attacking Bernie, and the home could not handle it anymore . Bernie weighs 54 lbs and is in good health- vaccinated and neutered. He is incredibly SWEET and a total DOLL. He loves to play fetch and tug of war with his chew/squeeze toys. A perfect gentleman on leash, Bernie enjoys long walks around the neighborhood. HE IS AMAZING WITH CHILDREN! Moses [more info]

Moses is a breath taking boy, just under a year old, and about 50 lbs. We rescued him out of deplorable conditions where he was left locked in a room without food or water for over a week. You see the house was a host to vast array of illegal activity. When the people were arrested, he was left behind chained in the room. When the landlord came to look at the property, he need to get him out. After a string of calls, he got our number and told us we had to get him immediately or he will end up in the shelter. We high tailed it over to him and got him. Moses greeted us with the HAPPIEST of spirits. If you could not see his deplorable physical condition, you would never have known he was starving and insurmountably thirsty for a week (during our summer heat wave nonetheless). He was just so grateful to be alive, outside, and with people who care. After witnessing where he came from, we appropriately named him Moses. Moses has a heart of gold. He is thin and needs to gain some weight. Sadly, his horrific life left him with more than just hunger, thirst, and an emaciated frame. Moses is covered in old scars. We do not know where this is from. However, it is clear that he was a victim of circumstance more than once. He is absolutely wonderful with people and children. He does get along with dogs; however, a meet and greet would be required. Moses also loves car rides, belly rubs, and snuggling. He really needs a home to decompress. Due to the urgency of the situation he is in boarding. Our hearts bleed for Moses; and, after seeing him, we know he will simultaneously break and capture your heart too. Sirius [more info]

Sirus is a loving German shepherd mix boy. With the body and look of a German shepherd and the cutest short legs, Sirius is a uniquely perfect sized pup! He loves the company of dogs and cats! He’s developed a solid profession around being a love bug, especially with his human! Now, this boy is more of a ladies’ man. However, with the proper time and patience, he can develop an equal love for males too. Sirius is a unique boy, who loves to be groomed. That’s right! Sirius absolutely adores being brushed! Literally, this boy smiles when you brush him! Eager to please, Sirius is happy to learn. This awesome boy is crate and potty trained and walks well on the leash. Although, he does prefer playing in the yard or grassy area over being near the street. Basking in the glory of affection, Sirius loves to be the center of attention. He would benefit from some more basic socialization training as he does take some time to warm up to strangers entering his home. However, when he travels or meets new people, he is happy to generously give kisses! We pulled Sirus baby's mother, Star, form a shelter right before she was supposed to be put to sleep. We, including the vet, thought she had puppies recently and they were stripped from her too early. Little did we know that she was PREGNANT! Her foster mom woke up on the morning of July 7, 2013 and found Star in labor! Sasha is a beautiful 6-7 lbs 4 year old female cat that is in need of a new home. She is a domestic short hair tuxedo. Her mother, an elderly woman who loves her dearly and adopted her when she was 3 months old, developed a severe allergy to cats and can no longer keep her. Devastated, she reached out to our rescue for help. We are unsure about how she is with other dogs. However, we do know that she is PLAYFUL with other cats and children. Her family describes her as quiet, gentle, shy, and sometimes mischievous. However, what cat isn’t?! Sasha LOVES playing hide and seek. She likes to hide for a while and then pop up out of nowhere. Albert [more info]

Everyone that meets Albert falls in love! His bubbly personality and boundless love is magnetic. He is about 10 months and gets along with all those he meets. Albert’s brindle coat and white mask (that made room for his brindle ears to poke through) are a common topic of discussion amongst the humans that meet him. This boy is Tigger personified- in a dog- bouncy, flouncy, fun, fun, and fun! This boy is completely oblivious to any negativity. He gets along with all dogs, cats, children, adults, extraterrestrials, anything, and anyone! He is best friends with his human foster siblings, 2 of which have special needs. Albert is so gentle and really does adjust himself to fit someone’s individual needs. This boy only concerns himself with two things, love and happiness. If another human or animal doesn’t like him, it’s not a problem. His policy is to win you over with his stellar personality- and model looks! The smile on his face is contagious and there is no vaccine. It seems like nothing can break his peppy demeanor. Albert loves to play or snuggle, whichever you prefer. He has absolutely no concerning behaviors. There literally is not a single mean bone in his body! Albert is a true miracle, and we are so grateful to have him in our rescue- and eternally indebt to our dear friends that helped us get him! Albert is, as many of you remember, the Craigslist ad a woman posted when she saw an abandoned dog in a park while walking her dog. She did not take the dog, but posted in hopes that he might find a home. Well, one of our dedicated volunteers went there. He was nowhere to be found. For days our team worked posting flyers and reaching out to people in the community. After a couple days, he was found! Our fears were confirmed; he was in the wrong hands. The night we found out where he was, we went there to get him. We rescued this uniquely handsome boy on a significant day. It was the funeral of one of our beloved volunteers, fosters, and pitbull advocates. Thus, we chose to name the dog after him. So meet Albert. His former owner surrendered him into the NYACC because he no longer wanted him anymore- we have no idea how anyone can resist that face! This boy is a puppy through and through! Still in his puppyhood, Jax continues to work on potty, crate, and leash training. Jax is excited to hear you call him, and sits- waiting for a treat and eager to please! Missy [more info]

***ADOPTER OR FOSTER NEEDED ASAP*** About a year ago Missy was found running loose in the subzero New England temperatures, malnourished and underweight. After 2 weeks of searching for her former family, no one claimed her. She was left abandoned- just a lonely scared puppy. At 2 years old and 60 lbs, Missy, an STUNNING white American Bulldog, always was and continues to be sweet and loving to whoever came to care for her, full of kisses and a yodeling bark. Missy is very affectionate- providing endless kisses and snuggles in bed. She loves to lay on your lap too! Missy has a lot of energy and loves to run; she eats well and will even sit on the chair at the table with you like a human. She is a very family oriented dog and loves to be around people. Due to her past abandonment, Missy prefers to be around humans, attention, and love. When you are not home, Missy patiently waits for you in her crate. Oh, and Missy LOVES baths, walks, and to chew on her toys. She has a toy box full of toys to keep her occupied; but, plastic bottles are her toy of choice. As far as we know, Missy has never been around small children. She does do well around kids 10 years and older. Around cats, Missy is a terror, but hasn’t hurt them. She just does not realize know her own strength, as most of these mush balls tend to do. Missy should be the only dog in the home, as she prefers to be the only beloved canine in the home. Missy is a wonderful dog and will be a devoted guard dog protecting her owner. She is a very happy dog and yodels instead of barking when greeting you- truly a unique and special young girl. Mac was found as a stray in NYC and then turned into the city shelter. It is a mystery to us how someone could toss out this boy! Mac is a 4-5 month old, male, brindle boxer/lab mix. He is about 18 pounds, so should be a medium sized dog when fully grown. Mac is playful and happy. Excited to see people and other dogs, this would be the great puppy addition to your home. Mac is looking for a forever home to call his own. Mac gets along great with other dogs and cuddles like a champion. He is a clean slate- perfect for agility, therapy dog, or any training! With his glistening brindle coat, deep brown eyes, and smile, he is irresistible. Consider fostering or adopting this precious Mac-a-licious boy today!!! Bonnie [more info]

http://youtu.be/KB4-Fu1anRo http://youtu.be/X4SkslVJX5M Bonnie was part of a BONDED pair. Her brother, Clyde was with her in the shelter. Then, a family came to the shelter and ADOPTED Clyde, leaving Bonnie behind. Her entire world shattered when they walked out of the shelter without her. Inevitably, Bonnie was on the euthanasia list; her time was up. After all softhearted Bonnie endured; it was time for her new beginning. The foster that stepped up for her backed out moments after her rescue. Bonnie is a sweet dog, calm, and full of affection. She does remarkably well with children and cats. She just ignores felines! This girl is a doll. Clearly, she had a tough or sheltered past, though. Loud noises and clashes frighten her. She also has a scar between her shoulder blades resembling a burn scar. We do not know the truth behind it; and, Bonnie would prefer to forget it. However, she does adjust quickly. Bonnie would love to sit next to you on the couch. She will approach your lap, turn upside down, wiggle her belly, and give gentle kisses. What’s not to love? At this time, she would do best in a home with no other dogs; however, that does not mean this will be true with time. Bonnie needs her human Clyde, perhaps a child to grow up with. She is a young girl with an old spirit. She does well in the car as well, just sits, looks out the window, and lets the world go by- probably thinking about something, we assume. At about 30 lbs and 2 years old, she is the perfect companion for any home size. If interested please email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail.com or info@twentypawsrescue.com. **Due to a gmail glitch, we lose some emails. So if you do not hear back from us please follow up! Luna is an 11 month old white boxer/American bulldog mix female. GREAT with other dogs, kids, people, you name it. However, due to her need for a peaceful recover, she should go into a home with children over 10 years old. Luna’s story is one of great sorrow. . Luna was found when she was about 3 months old tied up to a tree in Prospect Park with a sign that said- "Take her. I cannot provide for her". The man that found her, saw dollar signs when he found her. So she moved into his mechanic garage. There, she endured cycles of neglect, no training, and life in a crate. If she had an accident in the garage, she was kicked and hit. There was a male staffie living in the garage too; and, they became great friends. Then one day, the mechanics came to find them 'attached'. Cha Ching. All everyone could talk about was who would get what puppy. When we met Luna, she was well over due in her pregnancy (by about 2 weeks), hadn’t consumed food or water in 4 days, and absolutely miserable. We immediately offered to help him and made an appointment at our fantastic family at Faithful Friends Animal Hospital. She was seen first thing in the morning, and determined that she must go into emergency surgery. Now, on her 5th day of refusing food and water, she also entered a 3rd day of green discharge. Luna went into emergency surgery to spay and try to save the puppies, and our worst fears were confirmed- the puppies were not alive. Luna's uterus was twisted and knotted within her. Now, Luna has recovered. THROUGHOUT the entire ordeal, Luna was patient, loving, and beautiful. At the vet, her green eyes ached in pain and sorrow; yet, she trusted us. She knew she is now forever unconditionally loved. Once Luna was fixed and puppyless, the mechanics do not want her anymore- not that we wanted her to return there anyway. So she is now in our care. Athena [more info]

Baby Athena is a little brindle black masked peanut. She is about 4 months old, 20 lbs, dog and cat friendly, and a professional love. The calmest puppy of all time!!! She lives for cuddles, belly rubs, and naptime. We have yet to hear her bark! Athena came to us after someone purchased her and realized that in a month he will have to go to college and cannot take her…woops! So they surrendered her to us. We are guessing that she is a boxer/terrier mix. Whatever she is, those ears are to die for. Her gentle kisses feel like angel wings. The love she has to offer is vast, and she becomes attached quickly. If you leave, she patiently sits by the door waiting for you. Seriously, Athena is the easiest puppy of all time. She has yet to chew on anything other than her toys, and does not get into any mischief! This little peanut is quickly becoming a volunteer favorite. Don’t miss your opportunity to adopt Athena! Blondie [more info]

Blondie is a 4 years old miniature poodle. She was rescued from a life of being hot pink and living her life in a crate. With the help of her foster and some cheese, she was on her way in no time! Removing the pink took 2 trips and 3 puppy cuts! Finally, she is her beautiful snow white. Blondie loves all people and really thinks she’s a baby. She loves bones, treats, cuddling, kids, and spending the day doing anything you want. Quiet and gentle, Blondie would love a home to rest her head in forever. Sometimes, she is timid with other dogs. However, she does like to walk and engage in mellow play. This girl would never ever hurt a fly! Blondie loves to perch in windows or the back or arms of sofas similar to a cat. Please consider adopting this angel and allowing her to finally have her forever home.
